Course Description

This credential is for individuals who are learning about the many facets of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access and Belonging ("DEIAB") work in the Omaha area and beyond. This course will highlight the DEIAB space by explaining key terminology in the business and social justice cases for excellence and local resources to enhance awareness and effectiveness.

Learning Objectives

  1. How belonging and inclusion can enhance the effectiveness and excellence of all professional and learning environments.
  2. How biases can hinder/impact workforce, hiring practices, recruiting, hiring and retention, inclusive communication, sponsorship, mentoring, and harm organizations.
  3. How to interpret and address microaggressions. How to use data to build and assess DEAIB practices.
  4. How to evaluate your organization's transparency and accountability through the use of data.
  5. How to develop personal effectiveness and skill working across difference and within diverse environments.

Target Learner

The target learner for this microcredential is individuals who are interested in or involved in DEIAB work in the Omaha area and beyond. This includes professionals, community members, and anyone seeking to understand and contribute to local DEIAB efforts in a contextualized, impactful, cohort-driven manner.

Policies

This non-credit course is offered online using the Canvas LMS, over a 5-week period. It is asynchronous, but not self-paced. You will have a total of 49 days to complete the course. The 49 days to complete begins on the day of enrollment and under no circumstances will extensions be given. The course is approximately 15 hours. You should plan to spend about 3 hours per week on the course. You will be assessed throughout the course to demonstrate proficiency on the subject matter. You must pass all assessments before receiving the course badge.
